AOTW: Employment

This album, by the Kaiser Chiefs isn't related to the pursuit of a career after college, far from it. This an album of the wandering young adults of the world.

I discovered this album from my library. On a whim, I checked it out and at that time I remember myself saying, 'why didn't I find this out sooner'. It has the sound that I like, a happy upbeat, sound for those no familiar.

With their strong British accents in hand, they remind me off groups from the British invasion era of the sixties. For them to have such an universal sound, (poppy), I have never heard a single song on the radio or TV. It's just a sign of the times, no one wants to hear music that falls in-between the realm of pop and alternative. (talking about the 'pop' music genre not in terms of popularity here).

Lyrically the album has a sense of undirected youth. Oh My God, is the essence of the non direction. Dropping his job, the singer just leaves. To where? To a place far far away from home and joyously happy to be there.

The album carries a theme of nonchalance with the next song, 'born to be a dancer' in which the adhd suffering singer is being asked by most likely a girlfriend who is leaving for another city what is he thinking. He replies with the usual answers, but all that is going through his head is his dream of being a dancer.

Doesn't everyone want to be a dancer? Who has had career path go through as planned on paper? Not many, no one that I know of, that's is for sure. That is how life goes, employment is that one final step before you give up on dancing.
