I going to make some resolutions for the new year. Do I want to change myself? Hell no. I just want to do this for the challenge. Here we go:
Stop opening bags of chips from the top. This is a bad habit of mine. When ever I get a bag of chips to open I go for the top. There is nothing wrong with the bottom. There might be a bit more glue, but it is still a good usable opening. It could probably be beneficial, all of the small crumples will have a moment of relief, and the seasoning will also be more evenly distributed to the 'top' chips.
Quit binge drinking. I actually don't do it that often, but for now I will stop completely. There are many health benefits, too many to list. How I define binge drinking holds the key to success.
Work on my music more often. I have neglected my music way too much. I have got to work on translating the masterpiece confined to me to sound, pleasurable sound.
Take more cold showers. This saves energy. I, for one believe that I do not own energy. This has something to do with my belief in the Laws of Thermodynamics. I mustn't violate any of them, unless I want to go to physics hell.
Have a serious debate on why dogs are better than cats. One of my points, There are more unique looking breeds of dog than breeds of cats, please create a rebuttal so this debate can go on.
Create a haiku writing twitter bot. Because artificial intelligence can to create art.

What is new will become old
I am trying to think of a counterexample to the title. I am typing this on a newish laptop. The keyboard is fantastic. Easily the best typing experience I have had with a laptop.
Anyways, the conditions of an entity to be new are more rigorous than the conditions for that same object to old. Also, new is not mutually exclusive to old, as a used car can be new to an owner who has just bought the vehicle. But really, does it matter?
I was just writing for the sake of writing.

Vapid Vamp Vapors
Why does the textbox that I write in got to be white? What are they racist or something? What, a black textbox can't be good or something? They make it seem, that oh white, it's so superior, let's make it so that when people see a while space, that's the correct place the type in. Key work CORRECT, so by logic they also make it INCORRECT for writing in black spaces or brown spaces or yellow spaces. Racism still lives, don't let any correct white man tell you otherwise.

can't sleep
I am ill.
It's the cold.
It's a strange feeling.
To me
To wear socks around the house.
I won't change.
But I can't sleep.
it might be from the orange juice.
full of sugar
and I chugged it down.
but what ever.
this post is in a new format.
I don't think I like it.
but what ever.
anticipation
not for tomorrows events
but the day after

The Narrow Balance of Obsolescence.
I keep stuff around for a long time. I still wear shirts that I have had since I was in seventh grade. I still use a cell phone that was manufactured in 2004. I still use a computer that I composed in 2002. I use stuff until it breaks, then somehow fix it, and continue to use it. Yesterday, or early this morning, I finally bought a new computer, a laptop, it is already in the mail. The computer will, no doubt, do everything my old computer did and more. Thus I will find myself using my new computer more and the old one shall gather dust and retire into a state of unusable obsolescence. I used it all that I can. It will still do most of the tasks that I need it to do, so why should I replace it and get a new one? Rhetorical questions need no answers.
This Christmas' most wanted gifts are of the electronic variety, the new aged electronic variety. Unlike electronics and appliances of a generation ago (the eighties, yes, you are old), these new items are designed for obsolescence. Without a replaceable battery, that music player/pmp/ebook reader/cell phone machine device in a few years will have the capability of holding a change shorter than the lifespan of a Klondike bar in the heat of summer. Those plastic hinges on that laptop are going to break or become looser than a the sleeve of an anorexic wizard. The buttons on that shirt are all going to fall off since they were already falling off when you bought it. Those millions of Kinects will be gathering dust, since that thing that it plugs into is reaching the end of its life cycle or planned obsolescence.
Back then products were different (and I remember because my father used to bring that old stuff home). A thirty day warranty would be laughed at. That was a good time for stereo receivers, they were build like tanks, and weighed about the same. Japanese companies at that time were fighting for to put out the best product, and with the mass production of transistors instead of varying quality of tubes you could not go wrong.
It evolution of consumer goods has even reached products that typically were designed to last many many years, and were just about the second most expensive purchase people made, Automobiles. Now with shorter warranty, and corners cut to angles, a person is lucky to reach 150,000 miles in their vehicle.
I guess they figured that, you make more money when people have to continue to keep buying your products. I guess that started with the disposable razor. (FYI: you can use a disposable razor more than once, (and also those things are fricking expensive, there has to be some type of price gouging or collusion))
There could be some 'good' that comes from this. Consumerism fuels the economy, when people are influence into buying and are forced into buying a product, some lady in China can put food on the table, a dude in a high rise can buy a new Rolls, and you have a working cell phone.
And how did my shirt, cell phone, and computer survive for so long? My shirt is from J-Crew, a gift from my sister, if I button should fall off, my mother can easily sow it back on, (although I should learn to sow back on a button, everyone that wears clothes with buttons should). My cell phone, a Nokia 6230, Nokia is known for its durability, and their ability to just plain work. It came with features that are found standard on todays phones with expandable memory, bluetooth, 'apps', and such. My computer, I was the one who assembled it and maintained it.
HAPPY THREE HUNDREDTH POST!

The District Sleeps Alone Tonight
I'm listening to The Postal Service's song Such Great Heights. It's one of my favorites. As I head towards an area covered under dark gray clouds my entire mood is will be dictated by this album. I cannot speak of what my mood will be, it's kind of hard to grasp the emotional setting of the album collectively.
This morning I had thoughts of Sleeping In, not much to do in the way towards tomorrow, but if I had I would not have listened to this album.
Nothing better, would it be than to have The Postal Service to collaborate once more to produce an album following their masterpiece.
Currently, I am sitting in a bus, Recycled Air travels in and out of my lungs just as it does my ears. The mood almost quiet, only a child's periodic cries breaking the silence.
Clark Gable, in true gentlemanly fashion, would appreciate the kind actions of the fellow sitting near the child, as he distracts him with playful bunny ears.
As the light of day becomes the dark of night We Will Become Silhouettes lit by the moon.
Incased inside another bus, the person sitting near reeks of stench. This Place is a Prison, once outside I still would be confined within the walls and schedule of that institution.
In dreams, breaking out of this system would be the only cure for my slow drowning. A Brand New Colony starts with just an idea.
The confining ways of popular song structure do not speak well of my Natural Anthem. I am not one single rhythm, just as all, we evolve and change, staying solitaire just encourages us to breakthrough it's thin veneer with greater force.
But in all, changing what we are accustom to opens another box which we may or may not want. How are we to know what effects lead to what actions, what is the action when the effect is to Give Up.

Seat Reserved
It's pretty early in the morning, I'm on a bus, there's a lady in front of me drinking a 22 of Steel Reserve.
Lately I have listening to music that I don't fully understand. They are The Pillows, a Japanese rock band or j-rock for that familiar eastern pattern. Being a person who listens to music and a human being, even though I do not understand the language of Japan, their chord patterns, rhythm, and the vocalization of their lyrics can convey a lot of what they are trying of say without needing the ability to understand the meaning of their words.
This weekend I went to California. During that time, there were many parallels between the music I was listening to and the interactions I had. In the end, fully understanding everything around me wasn't needed, it probably made things a part of the journey.
