School is here

Today is September 30, 2009, you could have read that in the date stamp of this post. It feels the same every year, every quarter, though this year features many more people. These people who are mostly students are here for a degree, to prove to someone else that they are capable of receiving a degree.

(I tried to listen to Ladytron's new album, couldn't do it)

Collectively there are 65,000 students here most of which will be in debted to a sum that will take many years to pay off. Many of these students think that this is an investment.

(I was think about Ladytron's Light And Magic when I was walking over here, I knew it wasn't in my mp3 player, so I when over the internets to find that Light and Magic isn't available online but there more recent album is. I tried listening to it but I couldn't. )

It is true that many jobs will likely pay you more if you have some sort of college education, but it is only true if that person finds a job. In one evening, in a car drive home, I had KUOW on, it did a feature on a trend of newly college graduates not being able to find adequate employment. While the media report on the declining rate of unemployment, there is a growing rate of under employment.

(In retrospect, I think if I were to listen to Light and Magic for the first time today, I would not like it. The feeling I had was more of a nostalgia, remembering that I had previously liked this album)

((I could not spell 'nostalgia' remotely close, so I had to search for "yearning for the past", I finally got it, only to see that most of the dictionaries have it as "longing for the past".))

More and more people are receiving college degrees while at the same time, the rate at which jobs needing college degrees is declining. Combined with the growing number of college grads with a large number of incoming foreign labor and outgoing number of white collar jobs causes people trained to do high skill labor to be parking attendants like the person in KUOW's story. Education inflation.

(After stopping the Ladytron album, I never restarted anything, I am with my earphones with nothing on. They are comfortable, my earphones. They are in ear type, but the sound quality leave something to be desired. They are a replacement from my Sony EX-51 from five years ago when they're really was not any type of budget in-ear phones. Now years later there is, but at only ten dollars less than what I paid for five years ago, these cheaper Sony phones distort at places were the 51's would remain clean.)

While great for personal and societal growth, Inflation of this type is bad for an individuals personal security.

(I would continue this but I need to find something to listen to. I could go on about would the future of employment will be determined by the drive of a person with an example of using Florida QB Tim Tebow as an example, and there needs to be more focus on 'blue' collar work, skilled manual labor, because these jobs can not be outsourced, and most of the kids I talk to don't know anything about the engine in there car, let alone using the right tool for the job, and yet most high school shop classes are being cut do to budget reasons.
