AOTW: Vampire Weekend
Whenever I search for them on the internet people describe them as an afro-rock sound. This is most apparent in the song 'cape cod kwassa kwassa' where the band uses hand beaten hide covered drums. At first I did not notice this. I really only pay attention to drumming when it is bad or when it's a solo. Yup it's there, it gives the song a different set of legs.
Completely opposite, is the next song on the album, M79, in which the group uses a string section (or a sample of one anyway) that you might find performing with Wagner, or Stratavarious.
At around 40 minutes, the album is pretty short by todays standards. I am waiting patiently for their next album which is on my can't wait list that include them, death cab, muse and the killers. Waiting for stuff on your can't wait list, that is one of those words that I can't think of right now.

coffee is good in the morning
trees are also pretty nice to look at.
so is garbage.
garbage isn't good to drink though.
trees aren't too.
i was guessing on the trees.
i haven't ever drank a tree.
i was just guessing because garbage is nice to look at but not to drink.
so trees must be the same.
what about hair?

AOTW: Employment
I discovered this album from my library. On a whim, I checked it out and at that time I remember myself saying, 'why didn't I find this out sooner'. It has the sound that I like, a happy upbeat, sound for those no familiar.
With their strong British accents in hand, they remind me off groups from the British invasion era of the sixties. For them to have such an universal sound, (poppy), I have never heard a single song on the radio or TV. It's just a sign of the times, no one wants to hear music that falls in-between the realm of pop and alternative. (talking about the 'pop' music genre not in terms of popularity here).
Lyrically the album has a sense of undirected youth. Oh My God, is the essence of the non direction. Dropping his job, the singer just leaves. To where? To a place far far away from home and joyously happy to be there.
The album carries a theme of nonchalance with the next song, 'born to be a dancer' in which the adhd suffering singer is being asked by most likely a girlfriend who is leaving for another city what is he thinking. He replies with the usual answers, but all that is going through his head is his dream of being a dancer.
Doesn't everyone want to be a dancer? Who has had career path go through as planned on paper? Not many, no one that I know of, that's is for sure. That is how life goes, employment is that one final step before you give up on dancing.

Planet saving tip 8
The use of air conditioning, a luxury expense, can be diverted if people understood that their comfort level can be improved by simply removing their clothing. Tight or heavy clothing can not only trap heat, it can also cause major discomfort such as chaffing and that sticky feeling caused by sweat. The removal of all of some of the items can be a major improvement for the lives of those battling the heat of the months of June July and August in the northern hemisphere.
...so the dolphins don't laugh at the funny objects on are head anymore.

AOTW: Is On Vacation
Tuesday, June 9, 2009
My room is not a box, honest.
Finals are tomorrow, somehow I am not worried, not stressed. I haven't stressed about education related issues since sixth grade. I want to draw a picture.
Taking bird is playing. It's the demo version on the open door ep. I am preferring it to the narrow stairs version. The demo feels more hopeful, being sung with only a ukulele backing him up.

Did the b-field cause this?
Yesterday, I was at home. My friend called me up and invited me over for beer. Sure I said, who would refuse cold beer on a hot day. It was terribly hot, you could feel the air radiating heat on to your skin.
But just as I was going to leave, I checked on my computer for the homework assignment that I had thought was due Friday. Assignment menu opens up, assignment due in three hours. I tried my best to try to complete some problems but all attempts were left in vain. With hours still left on the clock, I left for my friends house.
Weather is a funny thing. It was super hot, but as I was leaving, the hot air met something it didn't like. Something the polar opposite in views, ideals, and methods. When two things like that meet each other violent things happen. The hot air system fought a battle with the cold air which encroached on its area right where I stood. Everything felt the power struggle, trees swayed back and forth, the birds flew sideways, trash cans blew away blocks over.
Now at my friends house the wind storm still going on, I grab a beer. I notice in the house two fans going, lamps, lights, computer, tv all on. In one moment all of them are turned off. With war, there is collateral damage. The electricity was cut off.
I don't live to far away, my electricity was out too. That homework was never going to be done even if I tried harder. I laughed at the sense of predetermined fate.
Best power outage ever.

Post whore
For those unfamiliar with the term post whore, it is a person who posts a lot of messages in forums, discussion boards, or social networking sites, many of the messages being meaningless.
If you frequent the internet, you must know a post whore. At one point in my life I was a post whore on a forums that I participated in. In one month I may have posted 500 messages, though that pales in comparison to other members of that site. Since 2004 I had and still have around 3000 posts on that site. Many of the regulars of that site have ten thousand posts and it is not infrequent to see a person with one hundred thousand posts probably because they have so many posts.
Someone just said ghettos khan.
This was probably not an interesting post.
The picture is of a broken cork. A cork puller would have solved that but all I had was corkscrews. The cork went to the bottom of the cabernet savoniour (sic, I aint french) it was undrinkable. And that's life.
Planet saving tip 7
Instead drink other local bottled water which tastes just as good, you elitist prick.
And this so called 'Smart Water'. If you read what is on the bottle you will find that they take natural water with natural minerals, distill it by, boiling that shit into oblivion, until its vapor (using tons of energy), cooling the vapor down (again using tons of energy) and repeating this process over and over. This process of distilling strips all minerals.
Nutritionists everywhere will they you never drink distilled water as your main source of water. It doesn't have the mineral your body needs. But that isn't a problem of the so called 'smart water', next they artificially add in minerals of their own because the water which kept us alive for tens of thousands of years isn't good enough, call it a fancy word electrolytes.
Would it be smart to remove something completely, only to add it back again later? Many would say no to that question. Those many would be people with what is called common sense. Something that is lacking of though with placebo standards for water.
With a completely ironic name like 'smart water' this makes the evian/naïve coincidence look like a less pretentious prick wearing fake designer sunglasses but without the bluetooth headset and fake accent over their name.
..so the dolphins won't shoot your conceited ass, once it developed hands from evolving in an ocean of shit.
aeroplains
I don't talk about the moon much, if I speak of any astronomical figure it is usually the sun. But you know the moon needs attention too. Common descriptors of the moon are mysterious, and other things I can't think of. It gets no love. No one goes out to watch the moon appear, hell no one goes out to watch a full moon. They would rather see stars or meteor showers and stuff, the moonlight blocks their appearance.
Speaking of meteor showers or shooting stars, I have seen three in my lifetime, two of the times were random ocurrances. On both occasions I just looked up at the sky and there it was, a bright trail of light. Seriously, one time at a highschool event at night I just looked up then bam, burning ball of flame.
I don't know why I am posting this.

AOTW: A grand don't come for free
This album definitely isn't for everyone. It is a pseudo rap album told by a British dude. There are some really good British rappers, (one of my friends had a phase, listening to British rap) out there but this albums main focus isn't about the artists ability to flow, or lack of ability. At times it is strange to hear the main rapper/singer/artist sing the chorus.
I struggle to label the people on this album. I hesitate to call them rappers, or singers, they aren't really good at either. Somehow the album pulls through with their lack of skill; they are good story tellers. The beats are done on a sampler, nothing over the top, pretty minimalist, like it doesn't what at all to over power the lyrics.
I prefer this album to their debut album, original pirate material. Grand is a bit more refined, easier to listen to. The songs on this album also tell a story about moments of the person's life. The separation of his girlfriend, paranoia from drug use, the constant reminding of his broken TV, and friendship are all talked about in a cohesive timeline.
There is a whole lot of British slang in this. It is all understandable to my American ears, though I wonder if any of the slang is used anymore. The album is from 2004, at five years old, I wonder if the heavy use of the language of the common British streets is now dated to their ears.
I mainly like this album for the telling of the life stories through the man eyes, unfiltered. Even with their un-superior talent they create a good album. That just shows you that it doesn't take the best person, to make something good, as there is no best in the area of music, its subjective.

Rotation
Boy, was it pleasant walking down to the bus stop. I am not dressed accordingly, that doesn't take anything away.
Sans coffee, I have been without for three days, been without caffeine for the same amount of time.
I finally got my ipod replaced. Listening to music right as we speak. It features a color screen! Sarcasm represented by the exclamation point. The background for the use of sarcasm is that my former player was so old that it did not have a color screen, I was over enthusiastic about now having something that people now take for granted.
This shirt I am wearing is itching me. If I relax the feeling will go away and it did.
Once it passes your hands, you have no control of what happens. Worrying about what you can't control won't sway the outcome one way or another. Try to let go, try to let it be.
